About the event

Many of us will be very familiar with chopping a carrot, or an onion. But do you know what its like to carve shape, purpose and meaning into a stick or fallen branch? Imagine that stick could become anything!

This workshop will offer several different techniques to safely, and effectively carve wood either for practical, or decorative purposes. There is nothing more satisfying and empowering than to know you can transform a stick or branch of your choice, to its new purpose. It is astonishing how meditative shaving, whittling, and carving wood can be.

At this workshop, each participant will learn how to carve their own knives out of a stick and personalise their knives with decorations to take home, and use on their next camping trip!

This workshop is suitable for beginners and all materials are provided for. The workshop will be held outdoors, under the shade of trees. In the event of heavy rain, we will move our whitting practice to a sheltered, covered space.

We hope to open the door to a new hobby and practice that will be rewarding for years to come.
